THE OPPORTUNITY
Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, the Senior Plant Manager plans, executes, and controls the allocation of budgeted resources for the site, establishes the policies and administrative standards that strengthen company processes, and sets the direction under which every department operates toward established objectives. The mandate carries full strategic planning responsibility and general accountability for quality and environmental, health, and safety performance across the entire area of influence. Direct reports include the leaders of operations, materials, engineering and maintenance, new projects, quality, and continuous improvement.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the activities of the organization, establishing tasks, objectives, and priorities, and defining the paths to achieve them.
- Develop, implement, coordinate, review, evaluate, and improve company procedures, policies, activities, and initiatives.
- Monitor and supervise the progress of projects, objectives, and costs against established budgets and timelines.
- Control budgets and collaborate with partners, investors, and the sales, finance, and accounting functions to achieve the company’s economic objectives.
- Supervise the performance of every department, and authorize and manage the creation of new departments and associated positions.
- Communicate the company’s mission and vision, cultivating trust, influence, and credibility across the organization.
- Motivate, inspire, and maintain strong working relationships with employees and third parties.
- Serve as site leader for certified quality management systems, identifying problems and deficiencies and ensuring corrective measures are taken.
- Comply with and champion the environmental policy and environmental management system, embedding environmental compliance parameters into annual performance evaluations.
- Support and communicate safety, health, and environmental programs and initiatives in a timely manner, driving continuous environmental improvement in operations.
- Participate in management reviews, ensuring the environmental management system conforms to internationally recognized standards.
AUTHORITY
The position carries authority to plan, organize, direct, and evaluate the activities of the company, ensuring fulfillment of objectives and goals; to monitor budgets and the progress of projects and activities; and to develop, implement, and update processes and policies.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
- University degree, preferably a Bachelor’s degree or Engineering qualification.
- More than 5 years of experience as a Plant Manager in the manufacturing industry, or as an Operations Manager or in a similar role immediately below site general management.
- Full professional fluency in Spanish and advanced professional English.
- Working knowledge of labor and environmental legislation and of international trade.
- Knowledge of internationally certified quality, safety, and environmental management systems; business administration knowledge is desirable.
- Strategic planning capability with demonstrated good judgment.
- Clear written and oral communication, with the ability to lead and supervise a multidisciplinary team and delegate effectively.
- Ability to motivate others to exceed expectations, resolve conflicts efficiently, and develop creative solutions to problems.
- Capacity to supervise and coordinate multiple departments simultaneously and to work independently without supervision.
