About This Search

Top Notch Finders holds an exclusive, strictly confidential retained search for a Site MEP Manager at a well-established manufacturing organization. To protect our client and every candidate, we disclose the company’s identity and the location of its operations only to qualified candidates under a confidentiality agreement. In addition, Top Notch Finders receives and manages every inquiry and application directly.

The Manufacturing Site MEP Manager Opportunity

The Site MEP Manager owns the planning, execution, and completion of a new manufacturing facility construction project. As a result, this leader oversees every phase, from site development and design coordination through construction, equipment installation, commissioning, and occupancy. In addition, the role leads a team that covers building construction, manufacturing capex installation, and facilities readiness for manufacturing lines.

Success means completing the project on time and within budget. Likewise, the manager commissions the facility successfully, coordinates well among project teams, and meets every regulatory, quality, and contractual requirement.

Market Context

For example, new manufacturing facilities combine building construction, equipment installation, and production startup schedules. Because of this, the site MEP manager must connect construction execution with manufacturing line readiness from the first day of the project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all phases of the manufacturing facility construction project, from concept through completion.
  • Lead a team across building construction, manufacturing capex installation, and facilities readiness.
  • Interface directly with the general contractor and subcontractors.
  • Identify building capability gaps and recommend solutions.
  • Join the building selection team and fill MEP IE positions to support the project.
  • Develop and maintain project lists, schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, equipment suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Monitor project progress and address schedule, cost, and quality issues early.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards, local building codes, environmental regulations, and company policies.
  • Review contractor invoices, change orders, and project documentation. Then propose approval to the facilities VP based on budget and building specs.
  • Conduct regular project meetings and give executive leadership status updates.
  • Oversee installation and integration of manufacturing equipment and utilities.
  • Identify project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and ensure the general contractor maintains an accurate project timeline and R.A.I.L.
  • Lead the MEP IE team so their projects stay on time and on budget.
  • Deliver the facility ready for production and operational handoff, then transition the team to a facility maintenance and process deployment MEP team.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 7+ years of project management experience in commercial, industrial, or manufacturing construction.
  • Experience managing projects above $10 million (preferred).
  • Strong command of construction methods, scheduling, budgeting, and contract administration.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing facility requirements, including utilities, process equipment, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and infrastructure.
  • PMP certification or equivalent (preferred).
  • Leadership, communication, negotiation, organizational, financial, and analytical skills, plus a commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Frequent presence at construction sites, with occasional travel to vendors, contractors, and equipment suppliers.
