THE OPPORTUNITY
The VP of Supply Chain manages capital-equipment logistics, materials sourcing, and end-to-end supply-chain resilience across multi-year fab construction and operating cycles.
MARKET CONTEXT
Supply-chain localization, tariff exposure, and geopolitical risk on critical materials have elevated this historically operational function to executive-committee visibility. Since the CHIPS Act’s passage, dozens of retained searches have opened across semiconductor supply chain and operations leadership.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and execute global supply-chain strategy for capital equipment, raw materials, and critical components.
- Manage supplier relationships and negotiate long-term agreements to secure capacity and pricing.
- Lead risk mitigation strategies for geopolitical exposure, export controls, and single-source dependencies.
- Oversee supply-chain planning for new fab construction and ramp timelines.
- Partner with government affairs and legal teams on trade-compliance and tariff strategy.
- Build supply-chain resilience programs including dual-sourcing and regional diversification.
- Report supply-chain risk and performance metrics to executive leadership.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- 12-15+ years of supply-chain leadership experience, ideally within semiconductor or complex manufacturing.
- Demonstrated expertise navigating geopolitical risk, export controls, and tariff exposure.
- Strong negotiation skills with capital-equipment and materials suppliers.
- Experience building resilience programs including dual-sourcing and regional diversification.
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or supply-chain certification (APICS/ASCM) preferred.
