THE OPPORTUNITY

The VP/Head of Government and Regulatory Affairs builds and executes federal and state government-affairs strategy, represents the company before Congress and executive agencies, and manages export-control, tariff, and CHIPS-related compliance issues.

MARKET CONTEXT

Tightening export controls, tariff volatility, and CHIPS Act appropriations have made government-affairs fluency a near-mandatory adjunct to technical and operating leadership, with senior hires in this space accelerating across the industry through 2025 and 2026.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and execute the company’s federal and state government-affairs strategy and policy priorities.
  • Represent the company before Congress, federal agencies, and relevant state governments.
  • Monitor and analyze export-control, tariff, and trade-policy developments affecting the business.
  • Manage CHIPS Act compliance, grant administration, and related regulatory reporting.
  • Build coalitions with industry associations and advocate for favorable policy outcomes.
  • Brief the executive team and board regularly on policy risk and legislative developments.
  • Oversee a team of policy analysts, lobbyists, and external counsel as needed.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • 7-10+ years of federal or state government-affairs or public-policy experience.
  • Registered federal lobbyist status or eligibility for registration.
  • Deep fluency in export-control regimes, trade-remedy frameworks, and CHIPS Act policy.
  • Strong relationships with congressional offices, executive-branch agencies, and industry associations.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; law degree or advanced policy degree preferred.
